Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS COMMUNITY CAPITAL?

It’s communities investing in themselves to bring about the change they want to see. Community capital harnesses the tools of finance—via innovations such as investment crowdfunding, DPOs, and community investment funds— to build wealth and opportunity for all.  A key principle of community capital is that all individuals, regardless of financial status, race or gender, should be able to invest and participate in the returns. “ComCap” = Community Capital. This growing movement is at the intersection of impact investing, local investing, economic development, and social justice.
